My love of children's books originated from years of reading to my son when he was growing up—starting with picture books when he was only a few months old, all the way through to junior fiction.
After years of entertaining the idea of writing children's books of my own, I finally decided in 2011 to study Professional Children's Writing and Publishing at the Australian College of QED—graduating with nine High Distinctions. My first junior fiction book was traditionally published in 2016.
There are so many aspects of writing for children that I genuinely enjoy—everything from deciding on a plot to developing it into a finished manuscript. My preferred style of writing is fast-paced, humorous stories with lots of unpredictability and suspense.
Looking back, I truly believe if it wasn't for all the years of reading to my son when he was growing up, I would probably never have started writing children's books in the first place. So, thank you, Josh, not only for the wonderful memories I have of us reading countless books together but for re-introducing me to the wonderful world of children's books, again. I will love you always. xo
