Originally from Melbourne, Victoria, Michel has lived on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland for almost thirty years.
During this time she's worked in various medical practices and radiology clinics.
She studied Professional Children's Writing & Publishing for three years, and describes her writing style as fast-paced and humorous, with lots of unpredictability.
She is passionate about creating books that engage reluctant readers, and uses humour as a tool to hopefully achieve this.
"Not all kids like to read, but they do like to laugh,
which can sometimes be the motivating factor to start them on their reading journey."
Her first junior fiction book, Maxidents Happen, was published in 2016 with Dragon Tales Publishing. Followed by her debut picture book, My Gran Does Karate in 2022 with Larrikin House.
She attributes her passion for writing, to reading countless children's books to her son when he was growing up—starting with picture books when he was only a few months old, all the way through to junior fiction.
Being reintroduced to the wonderful world of children's books as an adult allowed her to view them from a very different perspective.
